Sushi Yasuda, A Traditional Sushi Heaven (NYC)

Since I have moved to the east coast, away from the beautiful Vancouver, I have rarely gotten a good piece of fish Japanese style. Thanks to a trip to NYC and a friend who also loves a sushi, I was introduced to Sushi Yasuda. It's one amazing sushi shop. All the positive reviews that you are sure to come across when googling this restaurant are true. It has the freshest fish and expert chefs to prepare them. It is a quiet restaurant though. Not recommended for a rowdy crowd.

The menu price might surprise a few people. Each piece of sushi/sashimi range from 4-8 dollars. It's quite pricey. Your dinner could easily end up to be 100+. However, they do have a fixed price menu for 25 dollar per person that is complete with soup and dessert. It's a reasonable menu where you are required to select your fish from a limited list. These fish are quite tasty and they let you know which are the freshest everyday.

This is their clear fish broth soup, an alternative to the normal miso soup. Some people find it a little "fishy", but I rather like the taste of it.

I ordered the sushi and roll combo. The hamachi was very very delicious. I find the pieces to be perfectly seasoned and any additional soy sauce ruins the balance. Quick caution for those who can't handle wasabi. It's an integral part of traditional sushi and every piece has some wasabi in it. It's not overwhelming but it's something to keep in mind.

This is the ice cream with red bean sauce. Traditional Japanese dessert. The alternative was a mochi ice cream. If you enjoy something sticky and chewy, go for it for sure. Their mochi ice cream would rock your world!

Be sure to make reservations for dinning here! They are pretty busy every night. The bar is ideal for couples. Watching the chef prepare the fish is part of the fun!
